Emerald, by Karen Wallace

Emerald

This cover has a calm, soft glow to it. It is kept in the peaceful colours of green, blue and white. A little bit of red shown on the dress, almost hidden, speaks to me of secret passion, whether it be desire, anger or even revenge. The white dove symbolizes peace and/or innosense, but again, the red on the dress makes me think that all this peaceful outer is an illusion.
What are your thoughts on this cover?

  1. I see cold colors in the background. She stands tall with a stiff back. Even the dress is composed of stark and straight lines. Usually green is a comfort color - but not here. The turn of the head, the controls features on the face. It all implies to me a sullen and brooding anger.

That dove feels mightily out of place in the picture.
